Neonatal Inter-Hospital Transport Incubator

We developed a low-cost, portable neonatal transport incubator to improve thermoregulation during newborn transfers in resource-limited settings. The device uses forced convection, temperature-controlled heating, humidity monitoring, and safety features to maintain a stable environment for vulnerable infants. The final prototype costs $305, reaches target temperature within 10 minutes, withstands transport conditions, and was validated by neonatologists.
